Foster Responsibilities

Please review and acknowledge the following foster responsibilities:
By participating in the SOAR Foster Program, I acknowledge and agree to the following:
1. I will provide a safe, clean, and humane environment for the foster animal(s) and will take appropriate precautions when introducing them to people or resident animals.
2. I understand that introducing foster animal(s) to my own animals carries inherent risks, including illness or injury. I accept responsibility for any medical care required by my personal animals as a result of such interactions.
3. I will follow all medical, behavioral, and care instructions provided by SOAR and will attend all required veterinary or follow-up appointments as directed.
4. I understand that foster animals must be appropriately supervised at all times. Cats must remain indoors, and dogs must be supervised when outside.
5. I will not seek veterinary care or incur medical expenses for a foster animal without prior approval from SOAR, except in a life-threatening emergency when immediate action is necessary. I understand that unauthorized expenses may not be reimbursed.
6. I will immediately notify SOAR if a foster animal is lost, injured, becomes ill, or is involved in an incident or emergency situation.
7. I will not give away, transfer, rehome, sell, or otherwise place a foster animal with another person without prior approval from SOAR.
8. I understand that all foster animal(s) remain the property of SOAR unless and until a formal adoption has been completed and approved.
9. I understand that working with animals involves inherent risks, including the possibility of injury, illness, property damage, or harm to myself, members of my household, visitors, other animals, or third parties, and I agree to take reasonable precautions while the foster animal(s) are in my care.
10. I understand that I am not covered by any insurance, including workers' compensation, through SOAR for injuries, damages, or losses that may occur during fostering activities.
11. I acknowledge that my participation is voluntary, that I am physically able to provide care for foster animal(s), and that I am legally competent to enter into this agreement.
12. I understand that fostering may involve physical activities such as lifting, transporting, exercising, and handling animals, and I voluntarily accept any associated risks.
13. I grant SOAR permission to use photographs, videos, or other media of foster animal(s) that I provide for program, educational, fundraising, marketing, or promotional purposes.

Risk Acknowledgment and Liability Waiver

The following terms further outline risk acknowledgment and liability:
I understand that although SOAR Rescue takes reasonable steps to assess animals for foster placement, no guarantees are made regarding the health, behavior, or temperament of any animal.

I acknowledge that I accept foster animal(s) into my care at my own risk and may decline or return any animal assigned to me.

I understand that exposure to foster animal(s) may result in illness, injury, or damage to myself, members of my household, resident animals, or third parties.

I hereby agree to assume full responsibility for any such risks and to release, indemnify, and hold harmless SOAR, its officers, staff, volunteers, and affiliates from any and all claims, demands, damages, losses, actions, or expenses arising out of or related to my participation in the foster program.

I further understand and agree that SOAR is not responsible for any illness or disease that may be transmitted to my resident animals or to any person within my household.
By signing below, I confirm that I have read, understood, and agree to all sections of this foster application, including the Foster Responsibilities, Program Rules and Expectations, and the Risk Acknowledgment and Liability Waiver. I understand that this document constitutes a binding agreement between myself and SOAR, and I certify that all information provided in this application is accurate and complete to the best of my knowledge.

As part of this partnership, the information you provide in this application may be securely shared with the Doobert team for the sole purpose of supporting you throughout your fostering journey. This may include onboarding, training, communications, and providing assistance when needed. Your information will only be used to support your role as a SOAR foster and will not be shared for marketing or other unrelated purposes.
